At the end of the second full day staying in Vielha I arranged the bike route so that I would have time to wander down into town.
I am staying at the Parador which is up a hill out of the main town, the road does not have a pavement so the route to town for a pedestrian is to walk to a nearby village and then down a footpath.

I did not pack walking trainers…sandals it is then! It was not too bad to be honest, bit of concentration and no problems. Walking back up was no fun whatsoever though, I was flipping exhausted by the time I got back to the top. On balance it was worth it and better than riding down into town or getting a taxi.

After wandering around for a little while I discovered my timing was rubbish, most places closed until the evening, I even had a bag to carry all the souvenirs I was going to buy, eventually I gave up and went in search of refreshment.

So this is where I spend the next couple of hours, including chatting with Julio who gave up a health and safety job (I think) to travel here in his van and now works here and has a passion for brewing beer.
Not a bad spot to relax while pondering the walk up ‘that’ hill albeit sans shopping of any description.
