The ferry crossing was not great, the channel and around the North East coast of France had a swell that was pretty frequent causing the boat to bounce up and down as well as roll side to side, I wasn’t actually sick, but I felt pretty rough. The Bay of Biscay was much calmer, but to be honest I was out of sorts for the rest of the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were some dolphins as well, but they weren’t so easy to photo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was the last bike on and while everyone was waiting assuming they would loop round to leave the way we came on, I decided sod that turned my bike round and ended up first bike off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I soon discovered that North East Spain has some nice beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There weren’t many photo opportunities, though I am annoyed I did not turn round and find somewhere to park the bike to take pictures of a small vineyard, I assumed after seeing one I would see more…I didn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I discovered that many villages in the Basque region have one of these:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I was having coffee in one of the small villages I was even taught a little Basque! I think it might have been that my Spanish was so bad the woman figured I may as well struggle with another language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s route had a variety of different types of road some good, some full of potholes, temperature peaked at 35C, but soon I was nearing my destination with the fuel light blinking, good job I planned my fuel stop on Google…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It looked like this place had not been open for some time. Fortunately it was only a few miles back to the previous one…which was still open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not much to say about Burguete, it is a small village and there is not much going on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local cafe charges 2 euros 70 cents for a small beer, the hotel I am staying charges 2 euros for a large beer (at least double the size), tourist tax in the cafe? It wasn’t even anything exotic (San Miguel), I did consider telling him I’d see him again next Tuesday, but figured it probably does not translate very effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interesting coincidence…while in Key West recently we went to the Hemingway House museum, in Burguete:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
