I did consider winging it, but travelling solo I did not fancy the idea of ending up somewhere in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do and no-one to do it with.<br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am travelling to Spain on the Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry. The original plan was Plymouth to Santander, but one of my brothers invited us to join him and some friends to celebrate his birthday the same weekend. So a quick booking alteration later and I am now leaving the same day, but from a different port and most likely with a monstrous hangover!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ferry is due to arrive in Bilbao first thing in the morning and should allow for a full day&#8217;s riding, if it is late it could be a late arrival in Burguete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"449\" src=\"https:\/\/region15.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Day1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47\" srcset=\"https:\/\/region15.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Day1.png 1024w, https:\/\/region15.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Day1-300x132.png 300w, https:\/\/region15.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Day1-768x337.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Bilbao to Burguete<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second day will see me trundle across into France for a few hours before coming back across into Spain to reach my destination Vielha.
